Timo Werner to Tottenham: Leipzig issue official update as ex-Chelsea misfit nears move

RB Leipzig have confirmed Timo Werner is in talks over a move to another club as Tottenham close in on a deal for the former Chelsea striker.

Tottenham are on the verge of bringing in the 27-year-old Timo Werner in a loan move until the end of the season.

The move seeks is for additional firepower to compensate for the loss of captain and attacking talisman Heung-min Son to Asian Cup duty with South Korea this month.

After a mid-season friendly win against Swiss side St Gallen, Leipzig all but confirmed the move via their social media channels.

In a post earlier today on the social platform X:

They made a squad update.

“Timo Werner is not in the squad for today’s friendly, as he is in talks with another club,”

Werner has scored just 2 goals in 13 appearances this season.
