MLB fans were in awe after Patrick Bailey’s home run landed directly into a kayak on McCovey Cove

It’s not uncommon to see several kayaks hanging out in McCovey Cove beyond the right-field wall at Oracle Park. Even in the post-Barry Bonds era, it’s a cool way to potentially catch a home run.

A home run landing directly into a kayak, though, is uncommon. That’s exactly what happened on Saturday.

With the Giants’ Patrick Bailey batting in the fifth inning agains the Diamondbacks’ Zac Gallen, Bailey turned on a fastball and sent a two-run home run right into the cove. But the replay angle that tracked the flight of the ball showed the most epic of landings.

It landed directly into a kayak!

Of course, that could have been bad if the people in the kayak weren’t aware. But they seemingly reacted to the roar of the crowd and appeared ready for the ball. They had the scouting report played to perfection.

While it’s possible that one of Bonds’ home runs landed in a kayak during his days of a packed McCovey Cove (though none come to mind), it was wild that Bailey’s homer found the one kayak in the entire area.

MLB fans were justifiably stunned.
