Anglo-Nigerian Solanke makes history with PL Player of the Month win

Dominic Solanke’s brilliance in December sees him become a history-maker for Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Bournemouth’s striker Dominic Solanke has capped his amazing form in grand style after he was named the Premier League Player of the Month for December.

The Anglo-Nigerian’s victory sees him become the first-ever Cherries star to clinch the prestigious PL award.

The Premier League revealed on Friday that the 26-year-old emerged as the best player in the league last month.

Solanke’s win was also the first in his career after scoring a league-high six goals in December.

His goals saw him move to within just two goals of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool legend, Mohamed Salah in the race for the PL top scorer.

Solanke kicked off the final month of 2023 with a goal against Aston Villa before getting the first hattrick of his career in a remarkable 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest.

He wrapped up the year on a high, with goals against Manchester United and Fulham, leading the Cherries to four wins and a draw in six matches.

Bournemouth took to social media to celebrate their striker for his historic award.

“The first-ever AFC Bournemouth player to win the @PremierLeague Player of the Month award,” the Cherries posted on X.com.

Solanke saw off competition from seven others en route to his win to register his name in the club’s history books.
