20-year-old Wembanyama whips up triple treat for Spurs to make NBA history
Victor Wembanyama made NBA history after leading the San Antonio Spurs to an impressive victory against the Detroit Pistons.
French phenom Victor Wembanyama wowed NBA fans after becoming the youngest player ever to bag a triple-double without a single turnover.
Wembanyama was in inspirational form as the San Antonio Spurs thrashed the Detriot Pistons 130-108 at home.
The 20-year-old delivered a masterclass performance for the Spurs, lighting up the scoreboard with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists to register his first triple double in the NBA.
Wembanyama’s display came in just 21 minutes, with Russel Westbrook the only player in NBA history to hit double digits in points faster.
Westbrook registered his double digits in a 20-minute spell back in 2014 for Oklahoma, per AP news.
With his performance against the Pistons, the 20-year-old became the youngest player in NBA history to have a triple doble without a single turnover.
Per a post from the NBA, this feat from the French whiz kid is unprecedented since that stat was recorded during the 1977/78 season.
The Spurs star, who was the number one pick last summer, and hailed as one of the biggest talents in the NBA, shattered the previous record set by American-born Nigerian Andre Iguodala back in 2005.
Following his performance, the youngster was happy that his historic moment did not go to a waste after Spurs’ big win.
