Ferdinand claims Liverpool’s rising star is overrated and does not deserve praise
Rio Ferdinand, the former England and Manchester United star, has voiced his skepticism despite Szoboszlai’s impressive stats early in his Anfield journey.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s rapid start at Liverpool has been a hot topic, but not everyone is sold on the Hungarian sensation.
Ferdinand questions Szoboszlai hype
“I know everyone is hyping him, but I don’t think Dominik Szoboszlai has done [as well as people make out],” Ferdinand expressed on his Vibe with Five YouTube show. He acknowledges Szoboszlai’s talent but feels comparisons to Liverpool great Steven Gerrard are premature.
Liverpool, flying high atop the Premier League with a three-point cushion after 20 games, owe some of their success to Szoboszlai’s two goals and as many assists. His all-around performance has been lauded by many, but Ferdinand isn’t fully on board yet.

Ferdinand, however, praised Gravenberch for his impact in Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Arsenal and acknowledged Endo’s positive performances. He suggests that while Szoboszlai is aesthetically pleasing on the pitch, the fanfare might be a bit early.
