Sha’Carri Richardson: World’s fastest woman breaks another record in 100m history

Sha’Carri Richardson setting new records won’t be stopping anytime soon, as she has put her name in the history books once again.

World’s fastest woman Sha’Carri Richardson, has broken another record in 100m history by entering the top 2 on the all-time list.

Richardson at age 23, became the second-youngest sprinter to clock a sub-10.70s time in the women’s 100m event, placing behind Marion Jones (age 22) and ahead of World Record holder Florence Griffith-Joyner (age 28).

Others on the list are Shericka Jackson (28), Cameliter Jeter (29), Elaine Thompson-Herah (29), and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (34).

The talented speedster clocked an incredible time of 10.65s to win the 100m title at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, thus becoming the first American woman since the late Tori Bowie won it in 2017.
By doing this, Richardson ended the season as the joint world leader in the event. Also, her victory meant she earned the bragging rights to be called the world’s fastest woman and became one of the favourites to win the Olympic title in Paris.

Another ground-breaking record is that the track star ended last season with the most sub-11s clocking (12) by a female athlete, meaning she mostly dominated the event in her transformative year.

Richardson will be gunning to break more records this year, which will be highlighted by winning her first Olympic title.
